Emergency and Disaster Management - Session 5

The University of Indianapolis Center for Aging & Community and the Indiana Department of Health will host 5 sessions of Emergency and Disaster Management for skilled nursing facility professionals. These sessions, conducted from 2023-2025, will each be comprised of 2 partial days of instruction. In addition, participants are required to complete approximately 5.5 hours of online pre-work before attending Day One. The virtual training sessions are designed to serve as an introduction to emergency and disaster management with long term care specific content and examples.

Who should attend?
Indiana skilled nursing facility administrators and other administrative staff. For maximum benefit, participants should be integrally involved with creating and implementing their facility's Emergency Action Plan.

Session 5: January 9 and January 23, 2025, 12:30 to 4:00 pm
You must attend both days.

Delivery Mode:
Two partial-day, virtual training sessions. The class is designed to offer Day One from 12:30 – 4:00 pm and Day Two two weeks later from 12:30 – 4:00 pm. Please note: breaks will be given but there is no lunch period.

Content:
The virtual training sessions are designed to serve as an introduction to emergency and disaster management with long term care specific content and examples.  The course will involve a pre-and post-test to reflect knowledge improvement.

Credential:
Participants will receive a Certificate: Emergency and Disaster Management in the Long-Term Care Setting.  CEUs are available for administrators and social workers.

Cost:
Free.
This course is funded by the Indiana Department of Health using Civil Money Penalty funds from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
